Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with my textures in Octane for Cinema 4D. It seems like the shadows are penetrating them, as if the geometry has some problem with the normals. I've tried adjusting the normals in Cinema 4D whit aling normals, but that hasn't fixed the issue.

Does anyone know what could be causing this issue? If so, please can someone help me to find the solution or whats happening?

Hi, I would personally double-check the mesh's normals/weighted normals as I doubt it comes from Octane itself (or the textures). I believe somewhere in that upper menu, Cinema 4D has dedicated options for. I can only point it out as I don't have that software but mesh-normal is universal across any 3D DCC.

And if elsksa's suggestions don't work for you, try adjusting the ray epsilon...

If the issue is Ray Epsilon, check your scene scale. I find that it's generally a good idea to build at least roughly "to scale" in C4D. A quick, simple way to check, regardless of what units you are working in, is to add a Figure primitive object to the scene. If it doesn't fit through that doorway the way you would expect, you may want to adjust your geometry to more closely fit the assumptions and optimizations both C4D and Octane are doing. You certainly can work teeny-tiny or mega-huge, but it may take some manual render tweaking to make it look right.
