Stools (direct from Moi3D)

It's my first render with Octane V1 beta

It's straight from moi3d, I used simple materials and picked up randomly a HDR studio from Octane.
it took 20 minutes at 4096x2048 and then I downsampled it in Photoshop to 1024X512.

Yeah another MoI user !

Good result, kinda overkill to render at such high resolution
The reduced version is ultra-clean, I love the multiple shadows

What about making a comparaison by rendering at 1024*512 with filtering "on"
Just to see the difference in render time + difference in anti-aliasing ;)

The same scene rendered in 1024x512 with filtering "on"
after 1200 samples/pixel in 5mn 45sec
and then 4165 samples in 20minutes

Five minutes is enough with this smooth hdr environnement.

The first post image had the advantage to kill fireflies in the downsampling process.
(the différences in colors with the first post is because I did not rproduce the same levels, saturation and balance in Photoshop)

Good tests
With MLT you could have the render clocked at 5min without any fireflies ;)
Its good, there's some noise but that's not really a problem either for stills or animation
Noise make things look more realistic also

It's seem like a good day for becoming a MOI 3D user ;)

If only it wasn't Windows only. I actually purchased a license a couple years ago, but hardly ever use Windows. Nice program though.

Nice design, make me think of something 'art nouveau'.

Marc,
You are right!
Hector Guimard's work for subway entrances is still visible in Paris.
and for contemporary design references, there are Ross Lovegrove and also Joris Laarman.

I try to be on the strenght / structural side with emphasis on the flow of forces trought the material ;)

I agree, very nice stools Tib!
they make think of Calatrava also (St. John the Divine Cathedral) and reading your last post it does make sense (forces flow etc.)

cheers,
A

Adding cut line in the process of making it easy to manufacture.
I still have to separate the legs from the "crosses" and place a few screws

rendered with the 1.022 beta2.2 RC3
