3DS Max crashes

Hallo,
Over the past year the number of crashes has increased exponentially.
1. A. I am working on a scene
B. I decide to open another scene from the current scene.
C. File > Open
D. Crash
2. A. I open a new scene.
B. I try to render for the first time
C. Crash
3. Start to render is taking too long even in small scenes.
is this a general phenomenon or is it some win version or drive from nvidia?
