Hi everybody. I've tried 3ds max plugin version of octane and i noticed a interesting difference in vram free. About 10gb without RTX and 9.5gb with RTX while in C4D is about 8 gb with or without RTX. (two 3080 ti).
Why this difference?
Blank scene, no mesh/material/light (and caustics seems better in PT)

3ds max and C4D are two different applications from two different vendors. Each application has it's own methods, requirements, memory management and so on. To expect these applications to be identical is not a realistic possibility.

The plugin needs to work within the architecture and API of the host program. Every host program is going to handle memory allocation to fit its own internal logic. You'd probably have to talk to the host program developers and the plugin developers for each tool to get any meaningful answer.

I know 3ds and c4d are very different but this is an interesting behavior.
This difference aren't present with redshift instead. 8gb available out of 12 with both.
Ps do you have some news from Microsoft for wddm?
