Pure White Background

Hi there

I recently bought Octane and so far I'm loving it.

A quick question - I do a lot of product renders and my client always wants them on a pure white background. Is this possible with Octane?

Thank you

Save with alpha channel (kernel tab -> alphachannel) and composite your background.

There's a neat manual within Octane package, btw 8-)

thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I've got the manual. I understand about alpha channels.

So, if I have a studio set up with backdrop and a product - just lit with an HDRI, how would the alpha channel work in that situation? Are you saying I should render the product on it's own without any backdrop - then add the white background in afterwards? If so, what about contact shadows to the ground?

I hope that makes sense!
cheers

If you want contact shadows, do a white set, and turn vignetting all the way down, and tweak the exposure to get the whitest background possible. Turn off any film presets as these do affect coloring. Do final adjustments in PS (there's no color picker in Octane afaik).
