Wrong material applied

c4d 26.107
octane 2021.1.5 R5
geforce 3090
The attached project has an old ghost hiding somewhere in it.
If I render the project to the live view, I get a solid black wire.
If I render to the picture viewer, the wire fades out at one end.
This material used to have a gradient in the opacity channel, but that has been removed. However the project still acts as though that opacity gradient is there. If you delete the camera or the 5000case object, then it renders correctly in the picture viewer.
Project and screenshot of liveview vs picture viewer attached.

Tested further:
Only happens to me. Other people have it rendering identically in live view and picture viewer
Removing all materials, its still broken
Switching the instance from render instance to standard instance fixes the problem.
Deleting the render instance fixes the problem
This makes no possible sense. Why is an unrelated instance causing another object to go transparent?
Does octane have some sort of cache of data which it uses if it thinks nothing has changed?

You have motion blur in camera and it's causing the a gradient look because of motion. See pictures! Motion blur effect can be wrong if you don't resend data to Live Viewer or don't have properly cached the motion data when you jump to random frames unless go frame by frame.

But there's no animation! the cable doesn't move in any way, no keyframes, no xpresso, no mograph...
This is from an animated project so I do need motion blur enabled.

Interesting but there's not a wrong material case. Just giving this effect.

This problem is caused by the render instance. Switching it from render instance to just instance fixes the problem. But there is no conceivable reason for this to affect the cable.

Still affects octane studio+ 2022.1 with c4d 2023.1

Im not sure how the video helps? Yes, turning off motion blur fixes it. But this scene has no animation, so it should have no effect on the render. Plus I need motion blur enabled for this project.

Did we ever get anywhere with this? We're on 2022.1 R8 now and this problem still constantly ruins our work. Materials applied to c4d sweep objects randomly fade out and go transparent. Turning off render instances sometimes fixes it. Turning off motion blur sometimes fixes it. To re-iterate, c4d sweeps with no animation randomly fade out.
