My PC currently has 2 x 3090s with an nv link connector.

I'm looking at upgrading to 2 x 4090s.

The 4090s don't support nvlink - but does having nv link make any difference with Octane?

It doesn't combine the VRAM though does it? My Live Viewer says total ram is 24GB.

4090 series doesn't support nvlink so no double memory pooling here. But even using 3090 it doubles VRam only when you reach 24GB limit and probably only for geometry not textures.
