Hi folks,

I can´t find enough information about this topic on the web.

1.
We know that windws 10 is blocking VRAM from the GPU. Even from the GPU´s that aren´t connected to the display.
I assume this is just the way it is, right? nothing to do about it.

2.
If I would buy an A5000 or A6000, as far as I´ve heard, windows isn´t blocking that much VRAM on these Cards. Can anyone confirm?

3. How is the situation on windows 11? is it the same situation?

the problem here comes from WDDM driver mode.

if You use GPU for screens (GTX card could only run in this mode, regardless if You plug screen into them or not) it would reserve 1.4-1.5 GB straight away.

if You get something like Titan RTX or A5000 You can run those GPUs in TCC mode, that allows to disable screen outputs and dedicate all VRAM for render tasks.

so if You really want to get the most of Your GPUs, check if they support TCC mode. This for sure will come at hefty premium, so ask Yourself if that is needed.
