Hi samsue,
It seems you have Quick mode disabled. That might be the reason of this issue.
With a big scene without Quick mode, a lot of time is spent reading all the properties of all the objects regularly. It might interfere with the UI, not processing some messages..
I couldn't reproduce the issue, but you can try to enable Quick mode (even temporarily, if you really need to have it disabled).
You could also try to increase the Refresh time (ms) in Kernel panel. 30 to 60+ ms may help..
