2021.1.4.2 - no default materials and broken material import

1) I was sure Octane in Houdini had default materials presets for gold, silver, wax, water, plastic, cermaic, etc. the basic ones that could be quickly and easily accesses from the settings cogwheel icon on the top right corner of a material shader. Is this present, removed, will be added?
2) Octane material import issues remain unaddressed for years:
- no search functionality
- no multiselect, no multi import. if you import a material, the LiveDB closes instantly. Importing 5 materials ends up in clicking mileage to get there.
- every single parameter for an imported material is exposed as another standalone node, which is a UX nightmare to work with as it creates a network of 80+ unnecessary nodes. Only Octane in Houdini does that.

1) This is a Redshift feature. The Octane materials don't have a default material dropdown menu.

2) Yes, sorry, no improvements in the LiveDB materials import function yet. This is a very complex feature that unfortunately is really hard to improve in Houdini. Let's see if perhaps along with the next 2022.x dev. cycle something can be done.

Thanks,

It is present in Arnold, Vray, Redshift because this is very useful and it saves a lot of time. You are the developer for Redshift, you know this. So why not include this option too in Octane since the material import / export are useless.

Because the Octane material nodes don't have it ;) ... I could hardcode something like that, but it is not part of Octane. Standalone doesn't have it either.

That's because Standalone has a searchable library and it's easy to import and customize.
If Octane for Houdini came with a library of some 10 key materials that are easy to access and build from that would be nice.
