light linking question

I am trying to light a wall and a tabletop separately using 2 lights with different light pass ids. I'm getting light from the light that illuminates the wall bouncing off the wall and illuminating the tabletop.
Is there a way to stop this happening? I thought the path tracer would understand that the bounced light is still coming from the wall light and therefore not allow it to illuminate the table?
