Black Lines at Intersections

Does anybody know what causes these strong black lines at intersections of overlapping geometry? This model is just a bunch of soft round shapes all overlapping but this is how they render whether I use a simple diffuse or universal material. The objects are very small and simply scaling the scene up by 10 minimises the lines by the same amount. But I would really prefer to work at real scale - is there a way to increase accuracy?

Your object is very small, and thus requires adjusting your Ray Epsilon value
Octane Settings > Kernel > Path Tracing > Ray Epsilon. In this case, I changed the default value to 0.01 and it looked correct.
If you increased the size of your object, the Ray Epsilon value could be reduced, or work at the default. For more on Ray Epsilon, see this section of the documentation:

Thanks a lot for looking into that. Figured it was some kind of accuracy problem because the scene is so small..
