Octane stability, how much has improved?

Hi there,
I'm considering switching from Redshift to Octane.
I've used Octane in the past: at the time, crashes were quite frequent.
I decided to give it another try, and I see crashes are not gone.
I'm using C4D R21, and Octane Render Demo 2021.1 (11000014), on Windows 10, (2) 1080ti (driver 472.84), ThreadRipper 1950x.
The scenes I'm testing it with are quite simple: no animation, just a few textures no bigger than 4k, basic lighting.
Most of the time I'm just using the live viewer, direct lighting + GI Diffuse.
The weird thing is, sometimes it doesn't even crash while I'm previewing the scene, it happens by simply opening the Octane settings dialog up.
Am I missing something, or Octane's stability hasn't improved much?
