Anisotropy that shows tessellation facets

Hello the team,
I have a major issue with the anisotropy since the 2021 version ( was all right on 2020 ).
This version was supposed to correct the stretches reflexions but as shown on the picture, all my materials with anisotropy are wrong.
I have tried everything...
This happens on .stp imported files only apparently. On the native geometry it's ok.
In some cases, I can select the polygons on one face and invert them and it works but not every time.
I use the c4d native projection in the texture tag and it seems to be worse or better depending on the orientation of the texture.
The projection and transformation node doesn't solve the problem.
I use the last version of both C4D R25.117 and Octane 2021.1.1 & 2021.1 as well as recent Nvidia drivers.
Windows 10 pro 19043.1466
RTX 2080 ti GTX 1080 TI nvidia pilote 30.0.14.7284
Thanks

Hi,
can you share an example model that shows the issue?
ciao,
Beppe

Beppe,
here it is:
You will see 2 identical pieces (.stp import) with the same simple material on it.
The only difference between the two is the texture mapping angle on the c4d's texture tag.
The left piece (that looks wrong) got the same material but mapped at 90° off. (I use it a lot in my process and I need to).
It seems to go well on c4d geometry.
I hope this will end soon because all my work is wrong now and a can't do renders for my clients
Thanks^^

Please try with 2021.1.2-R2, and report back:
viewtopic.php?f=85&t=79289
The two objects seems identical here:

Thank you Beppe,
Happy to see that.
Here is my result on 2021.1.2 r2 (but i see my live viewer shows 2020.2.5 r3) is that a problem?

Ok, about old plugin version displayed in Live View, nothing serious, if you save a custom c4d layout with Live View panel inside, c4d freezes the title, and cannot be updated.
You need to remove the Live View panel from layout, add it again, and save the layout to apply the change.
About the scene, I had to rotate a bit the camera to see the artifacts, probably because I had to use a different HDRI
What is strange is that, if you remove the rotation to the Z axes, the artifacts are gone:
Even more strange, if I export the scene to Standalone, to fix the issue, you need to change the Smoothing angle from 45° to 40°

- 45°

- 40°
I have tried in C4D to rebuild the Normal tag with 40° Phong angle, but without success
Here is the orbx scene:

Okay thank you for the investigation Beppe!
From my side, no solution on C4D plug-in...
The only (painful) way is to remesh the parts but doesn't work sometime.
Is there a chance to see an update specific to this issue?
Best,
Thierry

It seems that this post is not very popular.
I don't think I'm the only one using this process?
it's weird that this problem appears after a specific update of this anisotropy / surface tangents interpolation function...
I really have a lot of problems on client work, it would help me to know that someone is on the problem
Thank you very much
Thierry

Hi Thierry,
we need to wait for the next SDK update.
2021.1.4 is on the go, hopefully the issue has been solved.
ciao,
Beppe
