Not sure what the usual precedent is here - is the recently-released beta of 2022 (with the new Photon Tracer kernel!) likely to see a Houdini plugin release, or doesn't that tend to happen until later in the development cycle?

Usually, there are also beta builds of the Houdini plugin using the early beta versions of the Octane core, but we don't have any ETA yet.

How 'bout now?

Are we talking weeks, or months, do you think?

I want to release it as soon as possible, but most likely early next year, just after the holidays. First I want to release a new Octane 2021.1 production build to support the latest Houdini 18.5 and 19.0 versions, the OctaneX PR13 builds, and I also want to have ready the first version of the Qt5 IPR to include it into this first Octane 2022 beta build.

Hey, any word on the 2022 beta for Houdini yet?

I'll wait for the upcoming new 2022.1 beta core. There are so many changes and updates that working with the old beta makes no sense right now. The new core should be just around the corner. Once available this new beta, releasing the first Octane 2022.1 Houidni plugin build should be a matter of one or two weeks.
