scrubbing animations not working

hi - I cannot scrub through animations with 2021.1.0.179 - is this correct?

octane 2021.1.0.179
win 10
64 gigs ram
3090
2080ti
driver 472.39
sorry if this is a dumb oversight on my part - it always worked in the past without doing anything particular- and I am just doing basic item transforms - nothing special.
