Tone Mapping, Z-Depth & Documentation

Hi, I've noticed that in the documentation there is no description about the fields Color Space and Force Tone Mapping: https://docs.otoy.com/cinema4d/OctaneRe ... tings.html
Hence, I have a couple of questions.

1. Before the tone mapping optiopn disappeared from render passes I used it to render the Z-Depth map wth correct values (like it was set up in the render preview with Z-Depth Max slider). Now, there is no tone mapping option in passes and disregarding the value I set with Z-Depth Max slider I always have a white rendered map. In After Effects I have to apply extreme exposure effect and adjust gamma to start using the depth map as expected. The Force Tone Mapping which migrated from passes to "main" settings tab doesn't make any different when we're talking about the Z-Depth. What's the proper way to render Z-Depth in such a way that I can send it to someone else who won't have to guess what level of exposure they must apply to the rendered map?
2. Can you, please, explain what's the logic behind the Force Tone Mapping and how we can use it to our advantage?

P.S. The link doesn't work:

With regard to the missing definitions for color space and tone mapping you're correct, although color space is indirectly discussed in the color management section, it is not explicitly defined as it should be. Thank you for brining that to our attention — it will be corrected in the next revision of the documentation.

Force Tone Mapping is considered an obsolete feature, as it can interfere with the much better results produced by the color management system introduced at the end of the 2020 cycle. Force Tone Mapping uses older, less precise algorithms to compress color from the Octane Spectral space into RGB space. The features within the new color management system will produce a significantly better result that is also compatible with modern ACES/OCIO based color management pipelines. As some still use the Force Mapping option, it has remained in place for compatibility.

Thanks, jayroth2020!
Could you, please, advice what should I do to avoid Z-Depth maps to be rendered white?

I believe you will find that the depth maps do have information contained; you just need to use the various exposure options in your composting application to dial in the range desired. We are making improvements in this area, so check the 2021 beta releases for more.

Good, so it works as expected now. Thanks again, jayroth2020.
