Adding Gradient to Spectron Light

Hi,

In Octane for Cinema I am accustom to being able to add a gradient to the area light to control how the light looks in reflections. I haven't been able to figure this out in the Houdini version. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

The ability to tweak this on the fly is essential so a gradient generated in Photoshop unfortunately isn't viable.

In Houdini, the light shader lives inside the Light OBJ node HDA. You only need to allow the editing of the Octane light node HDA content and edit the light shader available inside the "light_shader" network adding your custom gradient nodes and so on. It is not as easy as in C4D, but it is possible.

Hope it helps,

Thanks Juanjo,

With the help of Oliver H of OD Tools he was able to point me to the following nodes. There are probably many ways to do this but the closest to what I was hoping relied on Octane 2021 and the "Tool Gradient Generator" material node that isn't present in the 2020 version.

One step closer to replacing cinema :D
