Cinema 4D Shaders in Octane Material

Hi everyone,

just out of curiosity, why does the Octane 2020 plugin seem to support less Cinema 4D Shaders like its formerly Version 4?
For example the C4D Layer shader produces weird artefacts and color jumps if it is in any material slot and rendered. In version 4 it worked like a charme.

I know that there are ways to achieve the same results with octane nodes, but I was just curios why it changed that there were multiple ways to use also the C4D shaders in former versions without big issues and now no more.

Thank you in advance to cure my curiosity! ;)

Best regards

I can't explain why but you shouldn't support Layer/etc.. shaders of C4D, there may be some changes which causes more problems. Maybe using multi-core or single core.
BTW C4D shaders are not a native way to use Octane nodes AND I never advice to use them. Go with Octane style for performance and stability.

Thank you for your reply!

Yeah, i am aware of that, that we should go with the octane shaders solution. I was just wondering why in the Version 4 of the plugin some shaders worked without any issue, and since the 2k version it doesn't.

My biggest respect and deepest thank you for developing one of the best render engines plugins for cinema 4D.

I am usually eager to understand how my tools behave "behind the curtain" that is why I asked.

Best regards

Thanks you too! Much appreciated. I understand very well you. Honestly this part has never been worked fully stabile and played much on this area. I made some changes to make it better but never find the fully solid way. But it's like a blackbox to me. It's the reason why working different after every touch.
