Kitbash3D Octane C4

Hey everyone,

To start with I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but at this moment I am quit desperate.

This journey started yesterday when I bought my first two packs from kitbash3D for C4D. Unfortunatly the sites does not support the use of redshift in c4d so I started the rented version of Octane.
After opening the first pack I found out that the textures are missing so I did what I had to do and relinked the textures through the project asset inspector on C4D. What happens is that only some of the textures are loading (4 in this specific case) but the rest of them stay missing/black. After I tried putting the textures manually trough the project info -> textures but that was also not possible as it said that the textures was replaced 0 times. In the project info I see that the wrong path is selected but when I open this path it goes directly to the right path?

I hope to find someone with some experience in this topic that can help me out.

With kind regards,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
not sure if related to your issue, but default KiBash 3D materials are wasting a lot of VRAM, and must be optimized for Octane.

The first thing to do is to go to Live View , menu Materials/Octane Texture Manager, and select all Roughness and Metallic textures, and change their type from Normal (full RGBA) to Float (one Grayscale channel).
In this way, those textures will consume only 1/4 of VRAM, compared with the Normal mode.

To save more memory, you can also completely remove all the Black Metallic 4k textures, and set the Metallic value at 0.

Please check also the Emitter materials, the Texture Emission color is defined by a Texture, instead of a RGB Spectrum node.
Also these textures are useless, and can be replaced by a simple RGB Spectrum node that does not consume VRAM.
