Backplate focus

Hello,
I have successfully used the OSL projection workaround to get a non-distorted backplate in the IPR viewer.
I am attempting to defocus my objects to match a change in focus in the backplate, however when I adjust the focus distance in the Camera parameters, it also changes the focus of the backplate.
How can I prevent this behavior and have the backplate be unaffected by the focus settings? Houdini 18.5.532 + Octane 2020.2.3
