Weird issues with v. 2020.2.3

Hey so I've downloaded v 2020.2.3 for c4d s24, and i get these extremely frustrating issues with hair rendering
I seriously don't know what's the culprit

The thing is, the exact same scene, same lighting, exact same material looks fine in c4d r20 with Octane 2020.1.5
Here's Octane 2020.1.5 on the left (how it should look) and 2020.2.3 on the right
Screenshot (96).png
The right side looks fine, the left side looks messed up (they are two different hair objects with the same c4d hair material for shaping and same octane hair material for color)
It almost looks like the hair normals are flipped - but hair doesnt have normals doesnt it?

Using c4d hair color only (from the c4d hair material) looks fine (both sides look the same)

Here's what I've tried to do for the past 2 hours:
Regrooming the hair - looks same
Duplicating the right hair object and regrooming like left side - looks the same
Setting a completely new hair object and grooming same way - looks the same
Setting -1 on X scale or Z scale of hair object - looks same
Adding an Octane tag on the layer and ticking "render as hair" - looks same
Changing the hair to "generate as Circle" which makes the hair into a polygon object - that fixed it, but can only render around 8000 hairs before Octane crashes. I have close to 100,000 hairs in this project, so doesn't solve it.

I have both standalone 2.3 installed and c4d plugin.
Like I said, in s24 the hair color looks the same on both sides when using c4d hair color without octane's.

What am I missing here??
Thanks!

Could you please share a scene with me to show it?

Sure thing, thanks so much Aoktar
Here's the project file, with a few image textures for density maps
*Link Removed*

I deleted most of the hair objects and just kept the top ones

Back with some info! It's a bug with latest SDK, will be fixed for next one. Thanks for reporting it
