2d photoshop into 3d rhino scene is this possible??

Hi everyone,
Im tryibng to build some simple 3d scenes using images painted in photoshop.
Is there a pipeline to make this possible.
Autodesk maya and Blender do this quite well apparently (see videos below)

Ive tried adding as transparent images onto a flat plan but this doesnt seem to work.
Any ideas would be much apprecitated.
