Background Object with C4D Gradient turns white?

Hi, I'm trying to use an Octane gradient on the C4D Background object - but it just turns white. I have the Octane gradient-based material setup as I like and it works on 3D objects - but if I apply it to the C4D Background object the background just goes white. I was using the default C4D gradient and it was working as expected - but seemed to result it a lot of crashes. Any ideas? Or is there another way to use an octane material as a camera-frame sized background?

Hi,
You cannot use Octane shaders in background object. Because it's an exceptional feature and sampling in CPU. Use C4D's gradient and its native shaders.

Ok, thanks. I am finding a lot of instability (crashes) using the C4D shaders though.. any tips on avoiding that?

Increase cpu cores under "c4d shaders"

Hi,
instead of the c4d Background object, please try with the Visible Environment node, it gives you much more options, and works with any kind of of Octane node.
Please have a look at these OSL Projection nodes for the Environment and Camera node:

Or at this Xpresso version:
