Translating mesh objects stage 1

In Maya 2020 when I go frame to frame with Octane X prime 18.21 on Big Sur with a rx 470
It takes sometimes minutes as it says "Translating mesh objects stage 1"
I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to speed up this process because when I look at system usage nothing appears to be under much load at all (cpu, disk, memory or GPU use)
After this process the GPU kicks in and renders normally I just don't understand why it would take longer to go frame to frame than it does to open a scene and render it.
I've tried setting my pre cached frames but I am guessing there is a better way to speed up this proccess.
For my work flow I'd like to see how vdb volumes will look rendered in octane after I make them in bifrost
Thank you!
