Network rendering via shared tethered ethernet cable?

Instead of setting up network rendering through my router can I simply do it by having the two computers (master & slave) connected directly to one another via Ethernet or even SFP1 cable (using 10G cards in each box)?

Yes, but if you don’t have internet connection for activating the licenses, you need 2x USB Dongles for Offline mode.

Thanks for the confirmation Beppe. Yes, I have internet connection. I was thinking that file loading for heavy scenes would be faster this way? I have 10G cards in my computers but don't have a 10G switch yet. However, my preliminary tests over the regular network worked very well (did not test animation yet just heavy still scenes).
