Matte or Hold-out objects in render.

Hi all. Sorry to repeat this question but I can't get it working. I found a couple answers in this forum but they don't work for me.
I want to hold the water out or matte it or whatever its called in Octane, from the fruits. So the result is the water cut out of the fruit layer. So I can comp the water OVER the fruit and it will look correct. In Mantra you just put the object to cut out into the "Forced Matte" slot and it just works. Very simple and intuitive. Why not that workflow in Octane? Thanks in advance.

Why don't you use the render layers workflow? You can set a layer ID for each object in your scene in the Octane OBJ spare parameters, and later from the Octane ROP node you can select what layer or layers you want to render.

You can even also configure a color for the matte in the Octane OBJ parameters and render the "Object Layer Color" info pass to get a clean matte AOV for each object. You have also the "Render Layer ID" pass, that could help.

Hope it helps,
