Pricing for newcomers ? Plus, Indie version ?

Hi,

I'm coming from V-Ray and looking at alternatives.

It's not clear to me on your website what the costs are (probably makes perfect sense to existing customers, but not to me).

I'd like to know is there a perpetual version of Octane and if so, how much it costs ? And then how much it costs per year to maintain that version if you want to keep current ?

And if you missed a year's maintenance, what happens ?

I'm confused because on your website you're saying £699 for one year, and £899 for two years (perpetual ?) - how does that work ?

Also, it's mentioned that you always need to be online ? Again, for perpetual ???

As you can tell, I'm confused - please help.

Many thanks.

Also, is there an Indie Version available ? (for those of us who earn under a certain amount per year).

Perpetual is available for Octane 2020, and it maintenance includes a year of what the enterprise sub covers (all plugins, cloud rendering, access to things like free embergen beta). If you don’t keep maintenance going you will end up with a perpetual license to OctaneRender 2020 Standalone and one DCC plugin.

There are many cheap options for getting into Octane, the free tier is the first, which also includes macOS 11 shortly, and then the monthly studio subscription which is 19.99/month to month or 16.80/month for 1 year commit. I don’t think any commercial renderer beats that price, especially with 24 dcc plugins and all the rest in that bundle.

Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it.

There is no price given on the website for the maintenance side of perpetual - how much does that cost ? I guess that’s a yearly payment ?

Is there a new version of Octane every year ?

I’m looking at alternatives to V-Ray so that I’m not tied to just one renderer.

(Plus also I would rather invest more in the GPU side of things than CPU, having designed and built a custom cage to house 7 gpus and two PSUs for my workstation).

Many thanks.

You can get a dongle if You do not want to rely on internet. So there is an option, but it is not forced one, since most users will have internet all the time.

when You buy perpetual, You will have a year or two of maintenance included based on what package You choose.

for now, Maintenance is 199 if You would like to extend it.

Thanks for this reply.

I need to know, do your prices exclude VAT or is that already included ?

So, what is the final price - your website doesn’t seem to want to show that until you are about to click the PURCHASE button.....

(I’d like to know what I’m going to be charged before doing that).

And..... why would I pay $899 for 2 years when I can purchase one year at $699 and then pay $199 a year later (i.e. $898).

And yes, I would want it with a dongle - I would not be keen to risk going offline and my renders not being processed.

Many thanks.
