Any 4 x double height graphics card motherboards available?

Has anyone come across a motherboard that will allow 4 pcie x16 double height graphics cards to all be installed side by side?

I've come across a lot that have 4 slots or a combination of x16, x8, x1, etc., but from what it looks like, double height cards would end up blocking 1 or more of the slots.

...it happens that i just picked that one from my octane dream box shopping list ;)
now you only need 4x gtx 590 (watercooled of course), a big pump and radiator and the biggest case around :)

Yeah, that sounds like my system. Do you think watercooling is an absolute necessity or a "nice to have" feature?

...imho absolute necessity! i think you won't even get two of them working beneath _without any space inbetween_ yet 4 stacked together like a 1.5kW heat generating massive brick - they surely would melt down within seconds :)

i had massive problems getting 2 gtx 560 working while mounted within 4 slots, and afaik others, that use air cooling with such a
setup, run at temperature limits too.

and if you'll ever go that way, you have to have a look at the nozzles of the watercooling block. some blocks - or cards like the pov with stock watercooling - have the nozzles aranged in a way a multi-card setup wont't be possible; at least from what it looks like...

How about 4 of these.

lay the case horizontal with the side panel off.

and mount the cards on a frame in clear air above the case with enough space between each card.

Simples ;)

cool idea! but you would then use this board

together with 8 cards :))

8x gtx 590 for the ultimate ms/sec or
8x gtx 580 3gb if the 1,5gb of the 590 isn't enough...

ps: this is really a nice finding; could be very helpful in more "real world" scenarios too; e.g. mATX boards with 2/3 x16 slots used in a standard atx case (where you are able to mount the extra card pretty "normal"). or a standard atx board in an e-atx case...

unless you of course use that board with 2 way pcie express splitter cards to get 16no GTX590's in
