When rendering an Animation Octane is not rendering and shows "Waiting for Image …"
Rendering a single frame runs fine. What is running wrong?

Sounds like you have a mismatched versions between the plugin and the server. I would uninstall and reinstall again just to make sure to clean everything out. Make sure that when you uninstall, you get everything.

Today I installed this Blender for Octane Installer and this OctaneServer Installer, both 2020.1 - 21.7:

Is it possible to export the animation from Blender to the standalone Octane renderer?

Update:

When I set the Octane Camera Imager in the Camera Settings to Linear/Off, it is rendering.
When I set the Octane Camera Imager in the Camera Settings to sRGB, it produces the problem from above.

Export for Octane is in the File menu. Now I try to export it to Octane standalone.

Strange issue. It's working fine on my system. Can you upload a file that has this problem?

Hmm it’s confidential.

Okay, I have deleted all confidential meshes and images, the problem still appears. When rendering a single frame, it will work. It is rendering a black image because the environment image is missing. When rendering an animation the issue occurs.

Your file crashes OctaneServer on my system, even just rendering one frame. I made sure to add in a HDR image for the environment.

Sorry if I’m not addressing your specific issue. Final F12 rendering seems to work fine. But looking at your file I see why the preview is not rendering in the viewport and why it says “waiting for image.” The preview isn’t rendering because in View Layers Properties tab you have the preview pass type set to Denoised Beauty. However, the "Octane Camera Imager (preview mode)" is not activated. You need to both activate the preview imager AND you must select Enable Denoising.

Or you could just change Preview pass type to Combined, in which case you don’t need to activate Camera Preview Imager at all to see the rendering in viewport.
