hi guys..I have a problem and I can't understand ..
I have a mix material with amount dirt:
- wooden base :MAT2
- above a white color mixed with texture :MAT 1
if I want to create a displacement only on white how can I do? (i used bump and it works)
I tried to use displacement on MAT 1: does not work
I don't want displacement on mix material but only on white material and for me it's natural to use the MAT 1 displacement channel :?: :?:
thank you and good evening

It's not possible.
For mix material, the displacement map need to be connected to mix displacement node.
A workaround is a bake displacement of the two material mixed (wood with solid color), connected to mix displacement node.

Hi,
Preview Render Target.png
The manhole cover is displaced, the ground not, only a normal map.
The trick is the mix displacement texture: a displacement of the manhole cover (remember to not tile the texture - clamp value) and a grayscale color for tuning the offset between the two material.
After this, a baking texture (grayscale, HDR) direct connected to the displacement node.
Mix the two material and voilĂ !
