Hey
Working in octane 2020.1_RC 3
How to use Volume sample displacement in a proper way?
In the presentaion written that arbitrary textures to shift the sampling position inside the volume grid at all positions.
How can we do that, who to control to shift directly? Does it supports cinema 4d noises?
If it so - how can we do that. I tried to put various shaders in Sample postion displacement.
Maybe I am doing something wrong? I did not found any info in help.

Needs 3d space sampling and signed values. Values should be multiplied by N to see a better effect. Check "osl displacement" preset button. It will create a simple script to begin for playing with it.

Thank you for your reply.

Actually I have already tried this.
There are various different osl shaders each with totally different values and parametres.
Probably it needs a tutorial or maybe 2-3 unified parametres for every shader.
Cause right now I can't imagine which parameter in which shader will occur any result and will it be a desired result.

Cheers!

Could you share OSL sample displacement for us to play with in standalone?

Thanks.

Hi Ivan, I believe the official files were uploaded on a forum thread (or several). I found one so far: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=78304#p403838

Edit:
I've found the original forum thread:
The sample orbx for the above image is available at: https://render.otoy.com/downloads/15/48 ... displ.orbx
