Octane textures in viewport?

Hi!

A feature I found useful in pre-2.8 versions of the plugin was to preview textures in the viewport by clicking a texture-node in the editor while in "texture shading" mode. Is this at all possible anymore?

Cheers /Erik

Yeah , i was wondering as well.

Is it possible to see the Octane shaders show their textures in the Normal viewport or is this going to be addressed by using Brigade?

I don't know if this will help, but I like it a lot for at least getting a hint on what image is loaded into the node.

B.Y.O.B. supports Octane nodes, one of the very few plugins that do, another reason why I like to support plugins like this.

awesome , tough i suppose it is only for the shader view , there is still no way to see the texture in the viewport?

I find it a bit difficult when trying to adjust the texture tiling since i have to render to see how the texture looks and that slows things down

Yeah, I do use the shader tab and adjust the textures while it's rendering. Once the initial scene is on the GPU, makings changes is instantly updated. Although there are some issues I have been having where the image will not update and I have to rotate the scene and/or have to get out of render mode and then return to it to get it to start rendering again. This mostly happens as I'm building the material and the node setup is temporarily not valid.

Hello everyone,

Material texture preview in viewport helps you achieve faster workflow, instead of waiting for the rendering process to "reveal" the texture maps.
Since it has been stated by octane users, could this feature be available again in octane for blender? Would that be possible?

Best regards,
Stelios

I already answered to this in another thread.
Octane's UV Textures visible in OpenGL is something we'll implement as soon as possible, as long if that's technically doable.

Any news about it?
Thanks

Please don't hold your breath about this feature.
Blender Foundation is running with the releases (2.8 and 2.9) and we'll have to also integrate Octane 2020.2. My feeling is that we could have Brigade integrated well before texture can be visible in OpenGL. Sorry about that!
