Out of core... just a good marketing strategy

Hallo Again
This theme has been addressed several times and it is clear that Octane's Out of Core is ridiculous, yes I'm sorry, I know a lot of work is invested in this, but there is no other word to describe that "garbage"
I sincerely feel offended by Otoy. We chose to use Octane largely because Octane has the Out of Core
But it doesn't work... or does it only work with specific Quadros? but no one advertises that...
I have a lot of work to do and I can not rely on the OCtane working properly, I lost 3 hours of my day just today with this problem ... You've known about this problem for months, so please do something about it.

I know it's not your fault... you're just trying to help.
-this has to do with some kind of high-poly models and GPU head room ...
Can you request special support? You have no problem paying someone from Otoy to solve this problem for my company.

we noticed large texture files, 8k displacement, large sky hdr textures can cause this when you running out of vram. I think your system tries to fit/split a large texture on vram and into ram at the same time causing the crash

Hi guys,
could you try to cancel all vertex displacement map node, replacing them with a displacement map node please?

Out of core works for me most of the time now, my largest scene come to 40 million triangles (there is fur and trees in the scene)...
it did fail quite a lot, in my case out of core will crash when more than one octane is running eg plugin and standalone both runing at the same time, guess there is conflict between them...
The Nvlink probably even make it more fragile, see if it will work when take out the nvlink...

it looks like you found the guilty one ... I thought it was Vertex Displacement, but I forgot to delete a node in my tests.
But I'll keep testing, I am not sure if that's it.
I already commented on that... Otoy has to stop moving forward and make sure everything works... because it's frustrating to try to work, when you already have thousands of things to do and waste your time trying to find problems that shouldn't be there.

I removed my Nvlink.
I will follow the advice and also not use textures larger than 4k

in this case I suppose crash depends on the RAM limit available on board.
