Super Bowl 2020 spot in Octane

This year marks the third time I worked with Image Video Solutions in New Orleans on a regional Super Bowl spot for "The Hammer," Darry Isaacs. The first time around was a last minute "fix-it" gig animating a dragon. Last year was far more involved, creating three different story contexts within a roughly :60 second spot. This year was easier, in that we had just one theme, but it was still a ton of work. Shot green, all environments, characters, vehicles and so on were created within Cinema 4D and rendered in Octane. IVS did the comp work, and they used Matt Merkovich for tracking (rock solid work). I did most everything else, with some help from my buddy Perry Harovas on the asteroid break through and a little help from my friend Mark Thorsen in San Diego for the alien rigging and animation. Assets were a variety of purchased/heavily modified (CG Trader, Unreal Marketplace) and scratch-built within Cinema.
Our original plan was to render the interiors in UE4, but I did not have enough comfort level to do that within the deadline, so Octane won (and saved) the day on that one.
Oh, and we are also continuing our reign on YouTube views, as we crossed over 11 million today, besting our last year of over 10 million. Not sure how much further it will go, but each year grows over the previous, so that is a good thing!
