Octane and HDRI visability

Is there a way to stop a HDRI being seen by an Octane camera in C4D?
Normally I'd just add a C4D compositing tag and uncheck "seen by camera" but this doesn't seem to work in Octane.
I'm completely stumped.

you can set the hdri to be the primary environment, or the visible environment
primary environment means it illuminates the objects in the scene but the camera does not see it
visible environment provides no illumination but the camera sees it

I did manage to do this by turning off the environment and adding the alpha channel in the octane render settings but knowing the different environment setting is useful thanks.
