octane.dll has crashed because of absolut texture paths

I am working on a scene for some weeks now. I always use absolut texture paths. It worked fine, until suddenly octane crashes if i
a) press render or
b) go to the node editor to edit certain materials.
Octane.dll has crashed...
After some hours i finally figured out whats causing the crashes: the absolute texture paths. I dont use any search paths in C4D. If i save the scene with assets, the texture paths are converted to relative paths. With these relative paths it is working again. But obviously that is not the solution i am looking for. I need to work with absolut paths.
I already tried out the last 4 studio drivers, octane 2018, 2019.14, 2019.15 and 2020. I also deactivated all other plugins. It seems to be an Octane issue. I need to work on my scenes, and they worked perfectly until from one day to the next Octane got super buggy. I literally changed nothing. Not in the scene, not in C4D, no windows update. I can even reproduce the crash, if i simply open a single asset with the absolute paths.
Do you have any idea how to solve it?
