blender rtx and octane

hi,
since my license isnt working after a windows 1809 update, i have atleast time to ask about some things that are still unclear to me:
i use octane from within blender and am going back and forth between e+cycles and octane.
there has been quite a bit of hype regarding rtx and how it can speed up our renders, my question is:
- which versions of octane make use of this and how?
- is this improvement in any way dependent on 1809 windows build. (can i expect some speed up now that i an on 1809) or is this only related to dx12
- i have two 1080ti on my main rig - do these cards also support the improvements (not being rtx "ready")
- 2020.1 apparently will introduce some optix 7 improvements. what is to be expected and can i benefit from them, with the 1080 cards?
i keep reading diverging reports and opinions on this.
any further clarification is very welcome.

This is likely because the update caused your machine to look like a different one from the perspective of Octane's activation system, you may use an unlock to release it and you should get a new license lease.

The latest build at this time is 2020.1 XB1 which you can get
hereand use if you have a current license.

This is neither related to any specific Windows build or DirectX. The only dependency are NVidia drivers, which required versions are in the release post.

To leverage RTX you will need hardware with RTX support (Turing or above).

thanks mojave,
the support got me up an running i was losing my mind the night before tbh.
so 2020.1 xb1 is available as a blender plugin? apologies for my confusion, really hard to keep track.
i understood blender is still in on 2019.1.4 atm.
i was under the impression that even some pre turing models can benefit from rtx. worked inside of unreal too albeit without tesellation.
the consensus seemed to be that some pre rtx can swing it but the performance would not be that awesome.
i suppose with octane its either/or scenario.
cheers,

2020.1 xb1 is available as Standalone application or Cinema 4D and Maya plugin so far. Blender plugin is not available at the moment. If you want to try it you can export your project to ORBX and render it in Standalone.
Latest Blender releases are always here:
