Almost having enough.. Plugin rant

Once again I'm here looking stupid and sick to compare what the competitors are doing VS our beloved plugin, I know, you can ban me if you wish BUT I'm frustrated because I can't possibly understand WHY the standalone 4.05 gives me NO problems on a Client scene ( which I cannot possibly share) and I got Crashes and PC hangs on a simple 5 millions triangles collecting and evaluating...old story...... while Centileo 0.55 Alpha ( I mean Alpha ) and Fstorm is dealing with it no troubles at all.. not to mention Material conversion..but this is something that Octaners have to deal with it, although a conversion from Corona is VERY important because you may have a client that has his own models or bought it OR you got to buy it and not to model it in order to allow your cutsomer to save money...and sorry..Vray converter is far from being spot on....Centileo on his side is the most stable of all..collecting geometry and fire it up without issues on the very same scene.

I'm investigating which model does bother my Version ( now on 6.22 because 6.23 has a Forest Pack bug ) I can't work on a standalone,But at least ( I knew it because I did open a similar threads before ) I know that is a Plugin issue.

I even had a GPU failure due to an OUT OF CORE EXCEEDED LIMITS on a 5 millions triangles on a 8GB card ( 4gb avail ) Drivers? I'm on 436.48 Standard on WIn 7 64 with 24 GB DDR4 Ram, but it won't make differences, Basically I can feel the plugin simply not working as It use to.

I will try to report were is there any model from the external scene that is making Octane just bleed memory out... but not happy at all.

Hi Paride

No I can't send the scene due to a Non-disclosure agreement signed no matter who is receiving the file, BUT after a loong evaluation, hiding of every part, isolate ect I managed to find a model that seems to be the culprit of the hanging process of collecting, I saved it and open it for a quick render and it just think..and think and think...., I hate to reset the PC on any active process in order to avoid a corruption on restart but my point does stand, nothing of it ( apart from my memory limits and 3dsmax memory consumption as it is..which I'm fully aware ) happen on the standalone and testing of an alternative is obvious if I have to step in the Subscription club.

Attached the model that for uknown reason to me is simply taking ages and stuck the evaluation BUT there may be other models like it, can't understand were the problem is but surely it should jut eat it up in a second and render..instead on my 4.05 - 6.22 ( tested the previous as well ) it just not happen, I can't simply spend time in checking every damn model that any client is passing to me and 3dsmax Octane likes not. Nothing personal but as the market is oversaturated ..time is precious than ever was.

After reading, I had to comment, ...

The material convert, it's past time to have something that works. I am very worried about all these problems that I have seen, with each new version appear fantastic things, but with them comes many problems. As the last version, again, I installed and no other scene of mine could render.

We have just bought Octane enterprise and invested 15,000.- Euros in video cards. Now I'm obliged to work with Octane for the license period, I'm happy on the one hand, but also worried... I got it from Octane instead of Fstorm, but I'm worried.

1 - Otoy needs to stop releasing new versions, Fix the buses first.

2 - It needs to work with Raiclone and Forest.

3 - Urgent a converter of materials that works.

Otoy's losing a lot of customers because of these things.

Octane is great. IF you are planning to render large complex scenes you wont find a better and faster rednerer

Octane is great. IF you are planning to render large complex scenes you wont find a better and faster rednerer
there's no argument about that... which is why I chose Octane, but 90% of the scenes are indoors, so...
