Adjusting surface parameters globally

Hi,

I have multiple surfaces using the same parameters and would like to make a setup where I can affect the brightness input of an Octane ColorCorrect Node inside multiple surfaces at once.
I attached an Octane Float Texture to the parameter on two surfaces and added envelopes to those.

Problem is, when changing the value of those envelopes in the Graph Editor, only one surface changes in IPR - even if I single select the other one, I can't affect it to make it change in IPR. Only once I go into the surface Node Editor for that surface will IPR discover that the value has changed. I have to enter the Node Editor for each surface before the change is refreshed (making the whole system pointless) - (EDIT: or framestep to make it catch the changes).

Is this a bug, a LW limitation? Is there a way around it - to control surface parameters globally? (LW 2015.3)

Hi,

Sorry, can you share a scene to check this issue here? In a test scene, I can adjust two curves from different object surfaces and both objects are updated in the IPR, as you can see in the attached image.

Thanks,
-Juanjo

Hi Juanjo,

Thank you, I've attached a scene. You'll have to add a HDRI in the environment to make the scene work (I omitted it because of size).
In Graph Editor there's a favorite set named Surfaces. There's two channels linked to Metalness of the cube's two surfaces.

I've sometimes had it update one of them in IPR, other times neither - only if I reload the whole scene.
This is in LW 2015.3

Ok. Sorry, this seems a LightWave 2015.3 limitation. In LightWave 2019.1 you can adjust the two curves and the IPR is updated without problems, but not in LightWave 2015.3, that only updates one of them.

Thanks,
-Juanjo

Ok, thank you for testing and clarifying.
