NVlink bridges compatibility

Good afternoon

I read somewhere that Octane supports SLI configurations since a while...
and not sure if this sub forum is the right place to ask....but I am
sure there are lots of users using more than just one graphic card (o;

Now that I have two PNY RTX2080Ti I wanted to ask if I can use just any NVlink bridge connector...
or am I bound to the same manufacturer as I bought the cards from?

Interestingly I didn't saw any 2-slots NVlink adapters for blower design cards...

thanks in advance
richard

2-slots NVlink adapters doesn't exist because one card get 2-slot. 3-slot is minimum.

You can use gaming NVlink brides like : https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/ ... INK-RGB#kf
or dedicated ones from Quadro or Titan : https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/artic ... Chart-1330

Also you should check this thread because we have problem with NVlink and Octane plugin for Cinema : viewtopic.php?f=30&t=72235&p=368756#p368756

I intend to use the X399 Taichi board....has 4 PCIe 16/8 slots...and each slot is 2 slots apart....

https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/X399%20Taichi/index.asp

And you can fit 4 RTX2080Ti blower designs into it....which leads to 2-slots distance between cards...

According to Nvidia website there are 2-slot SLI bridges:

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/design-vis ... k-bridges/

And from your Gigabyte link the graphic for the 3-slot bridge shows that there is a 1-slot gap between the two cards...
So my understanding is that 3-lot means the distance between PCIe connectors the GPUs are using.

My current motherboard has the two RTX2080Tis 60mm (3-slots) apart..but there is one slot accessible between those two cards...

For the plug-in problem...does it also affect the latest blender plugin?

thanks
richard

2-slot bridges are only those dedicated to Quadro and Titan - chceck compatibility card that I posted before. I have Titan bridge for two RTX 2080ti and works fine. NVlink works fine in Octane Standalone, Cinema plugin has problem. I don't know about Blender plugin.

If you don't have plans to add more cards you should leave this one empty slot because it helps a lot with temperatures.

Could perhaps someone give me some suggestions? I've tried in these days to enable NVlikn but without success.

1) I've bought an AORUS NVLINKâ„¢ BRIDGE (3-slot) for my 2xRTX 2080ti Gigabyte
2) I'm on Windows 7, Cinema4d R18, Octante 2018_1_3, Nvidia driver 419.7 and 436.30 tested

3) **** My MB is an old ASRock Z97 extreme9, with an i7-4790 that drive only 16 lanes
4)*** I have 3 gpu in all, so I suppose that the total lanes available are divided as 4-4-8

5) I have enabled SLI mode and double checked that NVlink bridge are correclty inserted on the cards

6) Running NVlink test give always the same error

Could be related to my too old MB or by a wrong PCI slot configuration?

Thanks to all for the help.

Luca

Giolets, do you have monitor plugged into one of NVLink cads ?

I have connected one monitor to one of my Nvlink cards, only in order to allow windows to enable SLI features. Then I've re-connected all my three monitors to other card (not-vlink card, used only for display).
In any case I've run the test in both cable set configuration...
