Hi

I'm new to Octane. I have a Win64 100% new installation on a new computer, equipped with an RTX 2080 Ti.
Everything is up-to-date.
Poser freshly installed from scratch, 32bits, and 64bits.
I have installed the demo versions of the standalone + the plugin for Poser.
When I start Poser, there is an empty error message: "An errror occurred importing addon OctaneRender for Poser :"
When I launch from Poser the __init__.py python script (from the Octane addon folder), the following stack of error messages appear:

UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0xe9 in position 37: invalid continuation byte

In case, here is the version of Python, from Poser:
Python 2.7.1 (r271:35540, Jan 31 2019, 13:58:02) [MSC v.1800 64 bit (AMD64)] on win32

What can I do?

Hi - there is an error in the installer for the latest version of the DEMO version of the plugin. I will correct these and post back in this thread when done (in the next 24hrs).

There was a small error in the installation process of the Demo version.
It installed everything at the right place except the "Window" sub-folder

The octaneplugin.log says that the DLLs should be found in "C:\Program Files\Smith Micro\Poser 11\Runtime\Python\addons\OctaneRender for Poser\Windows"
And the installation procedure used "C:\Program Files\Smith Micro\Poser 11\Runtime\Python\addons\OctaneRender for Poser\Window"
The missing "s" in the "Window" subfolder's name was the culprit.

Here is the updated DEMO installer. Please let me know how you go with it.

Sorry for the delay.
Your DEMO installer works perfectly, with one small detail: it is looking for the 32bits version of Poser.
The 64bits version is located under "C:\Program Files\Smith Micro\Poser 11" most of the time.

Hi - can you explain more what you mean by this please? If I run the installer, it installs in "C:\Program Files\Smith Micro\Poser 11".

The last time I launched the setup, it asked for the path of the 32-bits version of Poser. I changed it.
and this time, it asked for the right path:

So, it looks like there's nothing wrong, it's just that it seems to remember the last path used.
Never mind, everything is ok
