Node Editor

Is it possible to improve the node editor on OSX? Copying and pasting nodes between materials sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, it's also very slow and painful in general working in the node editor.
Would it be possible to get it so you can have two materials node editor windows open at once and be able to drag groups of nodes from one material to another? That would massively improve workflow.

Sounds like you do something wrong. Which version do you use?
Take a look this video how to work with two materials and copy pasting

What's very slow and painful? Can't understand what's the problem you mean

I don't really understand that video! You seem to bring a universal material into a normal material then copy and paste some nodes? Then what?
I am opening one blend material, copying some nodes, then opening a different blend material and trying to paste the nodes. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
And when I say slow and painful I mean exactly that, everything slows down. To make it faster, I have to turn off Material Previews and Open GL Previews. Which is annoying. Is there a way to have these switched on and still have fast responsivity?

Also do you think it would be possible to allow 2 x sub materials to mixed then connected to a blend material?

OK realised that I just need to increase the number of materials in the blend material and then I can mix 2 sub materials using a float node or whatever, and then still have other sub materials on top.

1-Logic is same for every octane material types. Also you didn't say asking especially for blend material. But same logic.
2-Plugin version? It's not so slow, update to latest plugin.

I tried using 2018-R3 it was very unstable, crashed all the time, so went back to 4.03 which is very stable, but I find node editing quite slow.

Your answers are confusing.
Try 4.04-R2 or 2018.1.2
And write back your impression.

I'll try those Aoktar.
Why is it that every time I close the node editor and reopen it Octane has to rebuild all the material previews? Takes a few valuable seconds on my blend materials. Can't they be cached or something?
