C4D R20 stops loading at 'Initializing plugins' - Win 10

Hi,

I just installed the Octane 4 demo and added it to the plugins folder of C4d R20. I also removed all the necessary files and kept only *c4dOctane-R20-demo.xdl64*.

When I start C4D, it loads up and gets to 'initializing plugins' and then just disappears. There's no error message or anything.

I do currently have a Radeon HD5870 gpu installed - I am upgrading to nvidia. I was just downloading the demo so it's ready for me to use.

Is my GPU the reason this is happening? Will it work ok when I swap it out for an nvidia gpu?

I knew I couldn't actually use the renderer until I upgraded but I didn't expect it to completely stop C4D from opening.

Without Octane 4 in the plugins folder, C4D is fine so it's definitely this causing the problem.

If you can confirm that it's my current gpu causing this issue then I will remove and wait until my new gpu arrives.

Thank you!

Hi,
yes, the absence of an Nvidia CUDA capable GPU is an issue, since plugin cannot find the necessary CUDA stuff to work properly.
Please, uninstall c4doctane demo until you have replaced the AMD GPU with an Nvidia GPU.

Hi mate,
Octane is built over CUDA and it's just for Nvidia. AMD gpus have not CUDA compatibility. Change your gpu to Nvidia.
