Hi,
my previous graphic card gtx-470 was a knockout and I got a refund back, before purchasing a new graphic card, would like your advise if quadro 600 sync well with octane? Coz i do also use 3dmax and was advised that quadro runs well for us 3d users. Please advise as I'm pretty much a noob with the hardwares. Appreciate it. tq

nvidia Quadro 600 ----- CUDA Cores -- 96
gforce 580 ----- CUDA cores -- 512
Its terrible for octane
Best is nvidia 5xx with 3gbs of RAM but they have some issues in CAD... they have some glitches but its nothing terrible
Speed in octane is granted by CUDA CORES and with your graphic card memory you are able to work with
complex scenes. I have card with 2 GBs and with my work i didnt reach limit.
If i find it right, your quadro 600 can be used as second card display and you should get some 5xx nvida card with 3 gbs of ram
i hope this helps you

hi necko,
thanks for your advise, i just browsed thru some forums and found this link>> (as precautionary measure, sod I follow this move?)
http://www.octanerender.com/forum/viewt ... 7&start=40
"I as said the best setup for max users is to get a cheap quadro for modeling (and use it's DCC oriented drivers), and a 2nd card, a GTX480, headless for octane rendering."
here are my specs :
intel core i7-930>>asus p6tse>>kingston d3 1333 2gb X3units>> 64bit
Is this spec sufficient or do I need to upgrade anything specific? TQ

Hi, i have a quadro 6000 and octane plugin for 3dsmax work very well
We could compare a render with a GTX 480? Time of rendering and quality?
If somebody want to try... send a little file, i just start with Octane.
