Seen by transparency problem.

Hey guys,

It's my first post, but I've been reading the forum since Octane 3.
I have a problem with transparency objects using Octane 4.

The thing is that I would like to make transparent material that will mask other objects. (cylinder)
It's easy with standard Cinema to render, but this option does not work with Octane.
I tried a few options, but I have to admit that I stuck with this. (I can't do this is post-pro).

Is there any walk-around?

Thank you.

Well, you could do that with a Gradient node if you setup the projections carefully, but if you really want an object that's hiding other objects then I guess raytype() in OSL is the way to go. Ahmet was very kind to include my simple Raytype script as one of the presets in the OSLTexture node ( thanks Ahmet! ). It's in the utility section.

Here's how that might work. Keep in mind that this will hide your object from all refractive objects. So, you might have to animate the colors in A or B input to "disable" Raytype after you're done with... er.. magic tricks? :)

Cheers
