GTX580 performance for Octane and SLI effect

Looking for a new rendering system to test interactive rendering of walkthroughs. Found some gaming benchmarks on GTX850 in SLI 1-2-3-4 way.
2 x GTX580 gave 180%, while 4xGTX580 gave 240% on gaming benchmarks.

1) How would Octane performance go with this 2 and 4x GTX580 ?
2) is it as good to assemble 2 PC's with 2xGT580 rather than 1PC with 4xGTX580 ? Think the former would prob be a bit chaper and more robust, and cooler.

Objective is to buy a test system for Octane/Blender to check feasibility of interactive walkthrough (interiors, not outside), and if OK scale up performance by adding extra cards, or adding extra Render PC's in network nodes.

All experience/advice welcome. Already gave up Mac Pro option. PC Motherboards with 4xPCIe x16 are rare, and those that can actually run 4 slots in // at x16 even more rake (actually not found yet).

Thanks
J

Hi, octane don´t use the sli system and perform better than 280%, about 350%.

Search for benchmark+gtx580

Found a board with 4x pcie 2.0 8x:

The scene loading is a little better with 16x pcie 2.0 but don´t concerns the render time.

Cheers, mib.
