Otoy® is proud to announce the availability of a new version of OctaneRender™ for Maya® Version 4
The world's fastest and most feature-rich unbiased render engine that integrates completely into Autodesk® Maya®.

Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Versions 2016, 2016.5, 2017 and 2018 64-bit on Windows, Linux and OSX operating systems.

License upgrade

Unless you have a subscription license, you will have to upgrade your version 3 licenses to version 4. This upgrade is free and can be done via these 4 steps:
  1. Go to https://home.otoy.com/render/octane-render/purchase/
  2. Select "Upgrade" in the top menu.
  3. Click on "UPGRADE NOW" next to "Upgrade existing licenses to OctaneRender 4".
  4. Select the licenses you want to upgrade and confirm.
To use this version, you need a GPU of compute model 3.0 or higher. Support for Fermi GPUs (like GTX 4xx and 5xx) has been dropped. Also make sure you use a driver of version 387 or higher and if you are working on Mac OS that have a CUDA driver installed that supports at least CUDA 9.1.

Changelog and the installers for Octane Standalone 4.01.1 are here:

Please read the new features implemented from Octane Standalone 4 version our blog post.

Changes since version 13.22:

Hi!

Thanks for the update.

The bad thing:
Maya is crashing randomly during ORBX export. At least when exporting Mash RepoMesh node.

Cheers!

Thought I'd ask again ... can you install both 4 and 2018 ... at the same time?

Everything works absolutely OK in my export tests with a ReproMesh in the scene, can't make it crash for any type of exports.
Be sure you have enough system memory available - big vertex-animated meshes may require a huge amount of memory, especially if long animation sequences are exported.
You can PM me your scene along with the reproduce-sequence description, and I can check it on my rig...

For the plugin it shouldn't matter what version of standalone you have installed. E.g. you can have different versions of the plugin installed in different versions of Maya and they should work.
But you can't have two different versions of the plugin loaded in the same Maya app instance.

This works perfectly now and the feature is very nice and complete, thanks again, this is a lot more useful for Octane than the pfx builtin color system.

Please consider for clarity changing the attribute to something like "get hair UV from mesh" instead of "disable native colors support" which is only the side-effect (this could be notified in the attribute tooltip).

Hi, when I try to render a scene with a 4x780tis with "out of core" memory limit of "32768", gpu headroom of "2048", I get this error and the render never starts:

device 3: failed to move image texture out of core
Out-of-core memory limit exceeded
device 0: failed to move image texture out of core
Out-of-core memory limit exceeded
device 2: failed to move image texture out of core

The scene takes about 5GB with 4x980tis to render without problem, but out of core is not working with the 780tis.
