Hi Octaners,

The previous competition was a great success and all of you came out with some wonderful pieces of art. Less then one month after the end of this first edition and to inaugurate the launch of the beta release we are pleased to announce that the second Octane competition is now open. So don't miss this second chance to get out the best from Octane and maybe to become the winner.

By participating to this challenge each competitor agrees that his/her submitted images may be used for promotional purposes on the Octane web site gallery, eg displayed as featured images.

The competition is being managed by enricocerica.

Who can participate ?

Everybody !

Rules:
  • . You may produce and publish as many submissions as you want.
. The submitted rendering must be made exclusively with Octane Render.
. You can use the current Demo version which is publically available on our site or the beta version for those of you who purchased one
. Submitted images must have a minimum resolution of 1024 px wide and 512 px high, but we will prefer images at higher resolutions.
. You cannot submit images submitted in a previous Octane competition
Postproduction is allowed only:
  • . to fix lighting issues and fireflies
. to add glare and bloom
    . to add chromatic abberration
. for noise reduction if needed
You cannot add any other image part in postproduction.

Note that if you use excessive noise-reduction and your submission ends up looking blotchy as a result,
this will be taken into account during examination by the jury, and you're image might end up not being chosen.

Practically:
  • . Your images should be uploaded in this thread.
. You can change them until the thread is closed.
. Your image must be at least 1000 pixels in width.
. Include in your submission post:
    • . your Name, technical details (polygons, rendertime, etc...) and a short description/inspiration/motivation or idea about your submission.
. Add your full credits on the image as small text on the bottom.
. Include a screenshot of you working on the image in Octane Render. (this proves it was rendered in Octane Render)
. Don't post your WIP here, use the WIP forum instead.
. Create one single entry and update it with the new images.
A jury composed by 5 persons will vote and select the winners.

Prizes:

This time, as we launched the beta release, we wanted to provide some special and wonderful prizes.

There is no theme, it's an open competition, you can submit whatever you like.
Also note that it will last 4 weeks,
and we will probably in 2 weeks supply another beta with more features,
with alpha mapping and bump mapping amongst them,
so you can prepare a scene using those features,
post WIPs and render the finals when the 2nd beta is available.

Non customers van submit by using our demo releases.

sure, you don't have to have wips either, it's not required,
you can submit whatever you want, as long as it was'nt submitted in our first competition :)

about 2nd place. you have the cubic laser workstation pictured as the prize, but you say the prize is the gpu x (which I assume you mean the gpu-xpander).

the picture confused me for a sec as I thought you were gonna give away an entire workstation. (which on they're site they say it's 3k).

just so you know :)
