here's the Cuda Error i get suddenly. Octane 4 was running fine after upgrading, but the after a machine crash the console Tells me:

device 0: failed to compile module 1
CUDA error 999 on device 0: unknown error
-> failed to link file
device 0: failed to load OSL shader code:

I am running Mac on Sierra 10.12.6 with a gtx 1080ti on Cuda Driver Version 387.178
GPU Driver Version 378.05.05.25f11
62 GB Ram
C4D R20

Any driver reinstalls didn't work.....

System is: Win10Pro_1809, 24GB RAM, 2 Titan x 6GB. Octane Standalone v4.00, Octane C4D v4.00, C4D R19.068
Error on all drivers from 416.16 to 417.22
4RC7 worked fine before.

Reason detected.
This happened after the removal of the AR from the system.
All versions of Octane 3.08.5, 4.0RC7, 4.00 stable do not work with any Nvidia version 4 drivers (version 3 did not test).
Always this error - Unable to load library 'nvptxJitCompiler.dll'.
Returned AR and it worked again. Just do not try to install AR 2.4.3 - Cinema 4D on startup says that it cannot load Octane Render.
I hope this information will be useful to someone.
Not good to ignore the issue of compatibility Octane with other renderers, except for tips on removing RS.
They have what is not in Octane, different tools for different tasks.

I'm getting this on V4.01.1, never had it before.

share your specs, especially GPUs and Nvidia drivers version, thanks.
Have you used Standalone installer?
Do you have other render plugins installed?
If yes, have you tried with c4doctane alone?

AR may cause performance loss and stability issues. I hit this on my some tests. Please remove AR and work with Octane without AR installed/loaded.

As I wrote above, without the AR, Octane gives an error .dll nVidia on any version of Octane with any drivers.
